About me

I’m associated with the Torrey Pines Church and consider myself to be a San Diego Missionary.  In fact, I have been a missionary all my life to one degree or another.  I started out when I was 4 years old as an active Jehovah’s Witness going from door to door with a message about God’s Kingdom which they say was established invisibly in 1914 with the start of World War 1.  My wife, Sherry, and I served in mission work which JWs call Pioneering.  Shortly after we were married, we were called back to JW headquarters in Brooklyn New York on a special assignment and served there for five years.

We left in order to complete our educations.  JW’s don’t believe in going to college to prepare for a career in this “World.” However, if your education equips you to better serve the Watchtower Society of JWs, it is allowed.  So, upon returning to San Diego my wife and I went to college.  I completed my coursework with two masters degrees relating to earth science and engineering.  I have also continued my studies over time until I completed a practical Th.D.in Biblical Apologetics.  Sherry also completed her work for a masters degree as a Reading Specialist.

In the mid 80ties, we studied our way out of Jehovah’s Witnesses and were baptized into Jesus Christ in 1987.  Since then my wife and I have been associated with Free Minds which seeks to help former Jehovah’s Witnesses and other similar cults.  We are also involved with a Does God Exist ministry in an effort to show that the Bible and Science are not in conflict especially with regard to geology.  Additionally, we have a group of xJWs that meet at our home periodically to discuss how to cope with life after leaving the Watchtower.

Presently, we are associated with the Torrey Pines Church in San Diego.  Our service involves coordinating the arrangements for Communion for the Modern Service.  As a JW, we were never allowed to partake of Communion because we were not a part of the special group of 144,000 who are the only ones that will go to heaven after they die.  We were considered “other sheep” who would be a “great crowd” that are to live on the New Earth after the battle of Armageddon.

With regard to these Webinars, it is my hope that we can stimulate thinking about God’s Word and its relevance today.  I welcome anyone who would like to discuss any topic.  If I am not prepared to talk or to answer questions, give me a day and then I will ready.  Thank you for your interest in what we are doing.
